College Angling on the Move
The Bass Federation creates the Association of College Anglers
PONCA CITY, Okla. - College fishing is on a roll and The Bass Federation is helping to lead the charge! Approximately 200 college campuses have competitive fishing teams, making this angling market without a doubt one of the fastest growing.
To facilitate this growth, The Bass Federation has developed the Association of College Anglers (ACA), which is a TBF Federation designed for college anglers. The TBF created this organization to allow college anglers to reap the benefits of the TBF’s extensive organization, such as, its ability to provide basic items like insurance coverage for all its anglers. In addition to insurance this group also gains additional benefits like discounts on top brand fishing equipment and other sponsor related products, as well as, membership into the FLW outdoors, access to its sponsor group, and a subscription to the FLW Outdoors magazine.
The tremendous amount of fishing opportunities student anglers will receive by joining the ACA is probably the most exciting thing about this organization. Fishing benefits include a series of regional qualifying tournaments with a chance to compete in the Boat US National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship, priority entries into BFL and Stren series events, and the opportunity to compete in the TBF National Championship. This event alone gives anglers the chance to launch a career by receiving the top prize of the “Living the Dream” package. This prestigious award allows the TBF National Champion to realize his or her dream of fishing on the FLW tour with a Brand New Ranger Boat and Chevy truck, along with paid entry fees and expenses for the entire year.
The real focus of the TBF is to get college anglers involved with the sport and show them that they have a home once their college fishing careers are over. “We have 30,000 members in 46 states across the country so any college angler who wants to continue their competitive fishing careers can certainly find a club to join and continue to enjoy the sport of competitive fishing,” cited TBF National Youth Programs Coordinator Mark Gintert. “We’re in this market for one simple reason, which is to build long-term membership into our organization. We are the largest and oldest organized fishing organization in the country and we want to make sure this group knows that they’re a welcomed addition to our program.”
If your Jr. High, High School, College or University has an interest in getting involved with fishing please contact the TBF at Bassfederation.com to get started.
