Lone Star Outdoor News

DALLAS - Archery hunters had mixed reports from the Texas opener, with drier areas having deer coming to the feeders, but hunters in areas receiving heavy summer rains saw an abundance of acorns and new growth keeping the deer away.

Also in the Oct. 10 issues of Lone Star Outdoor News, available for downloading Friday at www.lsonews.com, while Kevin Van Dam is well known for his fishing success, his development of the Sexy Shad put him at the top in yet another category.

Ranchers in deep-south Texas are dealing with quarantined areas due to the fever tick that can be carried by deer and exotics and cause disease in cattle herds. Hunting ranches with no cattle are faced with obstacles dealing with testing or freezing deer before the animals can leave the property.

Lone Star Outdoor News covers hunting and fishing news across Texas. It brings the most credible and timely information to sportsmen and women two times per month. The print version is 40,000 copies.
