Redfish Are Biting, Snapping Turtles Aren't
DALLAS - Anglers report in the latest edition of Lone Star Outdoor News that lots of big redfish are biting on the Texas coast. But another creature is not having as much luck with game fish.
The redfish report covers the Texas coast, with anglers telling about catches in shallow and deeper water for the popular gamefish. Other redfish-related stories look at protections for seagrass and an illegal practice called herding redfish.
And the other creature? It's a snapping turtle. The fearsome beasts with the violent bite apparently do little damage to populations of largemouth bass in stock tanks. They eat mainly what passes in front of their face, and bass can be to big and fast to catch for them.
