SCI's Annual Hunters' Convention is the Ultimate Hunting Marketplace

01-25-11

Reno, Nevada - Safari Club International's (SCI) 39th Hunters' Convention is set to begin at 10:00am on Jan. 26 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. With over 1,150 exhibitors in 650,000 square feet of exhibit space, the 2011 SCI Convention promises to be the biggest hunting market this year.

"Safari Club International is always excited to kick off our annual convention that helps provide all the needed funding for the organization's advocacy and conservation efforts," said SCI President Dr. Larry Rudolph. "The SCI members who attend each year help protect our hunting heritage by supporting SCI as an organization, with the added advantage of being able to book the hunt of a lifetime on the show floor."

Additionally, the 39th Annual Hunters' Convention will be a record setting year with over 75 representatives from international countries attending to discuss ongoing sustainable use conservation programs worldwide. The SCI Foundation (SCIF) Conservation committee's outreach has increased the participation of these international representatives who value the economic impact that hunters make in the rural economies of their nations.

"Hunters and conservationists from around the world are convening on Reno and I am please that the SCI Convention and the SCI Foundation are the forces bringing these international representatives together. My hope is that the funding power realized from this week will increase the impact that hunters have on the sustainable conservation of species worldwide," added SCI Foundation President Joseph Hosmer.

The SCI Convention is expected to draw as many as 20,000 SCI members from around the world. Events throughout the week include the Sportsmen Against Hunger ™ Feed the Hungry Feast on Jan. 25 where 2000 meals will be served to local Reno residents; a Sensory Safari ™ exhibit that helps visually impaired individuals experience wildlife first-hand; the annual SCI Political Action Committee luncheon that builds the funding for political donations to increase the number of pro-hunting members in Congress; and a panel debate to address returning wildlife management for wolves and other wildlife species to the states.
