Shooting USA Gives One Last Change to Meet Olympic Shooters

08-21-08

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - They're coming home with six medals and, once again, the accomplishments of our team are the most under-reported story of the Beijing Olympics. We've been tracking the team medals on the website, while NBC has given us Beach Volleyball and Synchronized Diving in prime time. We can't show you the video of our team winning medals in Trap, Double Trap, Skeet, Air Pistol, and Rifle competition--NBC owns that video. But we can give you one more chance to meet the team and the coaches, as we present a final performance of the Hour Special profiling the team.

ShootingUSA Profile - TheUS Shooting Team

Shooting USA is proud to be the Official Television Show sponsor of our US Shooting team. We're presenting an hour special on the best-of-the-best who represented us this year inBeijing. It's time you knew the members of our United States Shooting Team, and what it takes to go for the gold.

Celebrate Our Team, Wednesday on Outdoor Channel:

* Eastern Time - 4:30 PM, 8:30 PM,12:00 Midnight
* Central Time - 3:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 11:00 PM
* Mountain Time - 2:30 PM, 6:30 PM, 10:00 PM
* Pacific Time - 1:30 PM, 5:30 PM, 9:00 PM

Speaking of Trap:

We had told you we were covering the Grand American National ATA Trap Championships for this year. But you won't be seeing the Grand after all. Not that we didn't go to Sparta,Illinois to try to cover the Grand, we did. But for the first time in 15 years of covering the shooting sports, the ATA competitors refused to shoot in front of our cameras. ATA had approved our coverage in advance, so we showed up to work, but the competitors wouldn't shoot with the cameras watching.

ATA management suggested we could fake our coverage at the practice fields, but we don't fake anything we show you on TV. So we went home, leaving ATA Trap to be the invisible sport shot by nervous competitors.

Scholastic Clay Target Championships:

The youngsters who shot their Nationals at Sparta, two weeks before the Grand, were more than happy to have our cameras covering their competition. We'll be delighted to show you their events later this fall. And we now know SCTP competition feeds champions into our Olympic Shooting Team. So you could be seeing the future members of the US Shooting team in our coverage. It's clear we won't see them, if they move up to shooting in the Grand.

So it's been an odd couple weeks, but there's new shows in the pipeline, with confident shooters, for September.
