The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) works to grow the deer and wildlife industries through leadership, education and public awareness. We serve as a national voice for companies, organizations and industry professionals who promote industry growth and support the advancement of wildlife and habitat.
Coming of Age
As we move into our third year, ADWA is growing and we are, indeed, creating a better habitat for business. From helping members get the word out about their products and services to providing outdoor education and affordable hunting opportunities for our youth, ADWA is working to facilitate commerce and conservation.
This year is a coming-of-age year for ADWA. We are introducing new services and creating new membership packages that will broaden our reach like never before. For example, in just a couple of weeks from now, we will unveil an all-new online service for ADWA members — iHuntAmerica.com, a comprehensive database of hunting ranches, game preserves and outfitters.
As a free service to sportsmen, iHuntAmerica.com will allow ADWA members to promote their hunting ranches and outfitting services, and hunters will be able to freely search and locate hunts by price, animal species, hunt type, guide service and/or lodging facilities. Honestly, I have not seen another web site that offers this level of depth in search functionality locating hunts.

United Airlines Rescinds ‘No Antlers No Horns’ Policy
After receiving complaints from thousands of sportsmen from across the country, United Airlines has decided to rescind its ‘Antler and Animal Horn Policy,’ once again making the skies more friendly to fly for sportsmen.
In October, United had quietly introduced a policy that prohibited carrying on or checking antlers or animal horns of any kind. The policy was blatantly biased against millions of sportsmen, and numerous sportsmen- and wildlife-focused organizations, including the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance, helped get the word out.

ADWA Holds 2nd Annual Pigapalooza Youth Hog Hunt
The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) is inviting young sportsmen (ages 8 to 15) to attend the 2nd Annual Pigapalooza Youth Hog Hunt. The event will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at DB Hunting Ranch in Bertram, Texas, and will provide a morning and evening hunt as well as a pork sandwich lunch and other fun, educational activities.
“This is our second year to offer the Pigapalooza Youth Hunt, and we are very excited to help introduce the thrill of hunting to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity,” says ADWA President John Meng. “ADWA was established in part to encourage more youth involvement in the sport by creating greater accessibility and affordability. The DB Hunting Ranch is our co-sponsor for the event and their support for this event has been tremendous.”
Cost is only $50 for one non-trophy class hog per youth hunter. Space is limited. Youth participants must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Call ADWA to reserve space today at 877.331.8607. |

Deer & Wildlife Industry Gears Up for ‘Show Season’

New CWD Cases Found in West Virginia
Chris Lawrence, West Virginia Outdoor News
The slow growth and spread of chronic wasting disease continues in West Virginia. DNR Biologists report 16 deer killed by hunters in the 2009 deer season tested positive for the presence of CWD. The DNR pulled those positives from 1,091 deer killed by hunters in Hampshire at local checking stations during the season.
"It's not the greatest news and certainly wasn't the Christmas present I was hoping to open, but you know when you're dealing with CWD and lots of unknowns associated with it, having a result with 16 positives was not necessarily unexpected at all," said Paul Johansen, Chief of the DNR's Game Management on West Virginia Outdoors.
The 16 infected whitetails included one 4.5-year-old doe, a 2.5-year-old doe, one 1.5-year-old buck, ten 2.5 year old bucks, and three 3.5 year old bucks.
