The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) works to grow the deer and wildlife industries through leadership, education and public awareness. We serve as a national voice for companies, organizations and industry professionals who promote industry growth and support the advancement of wildlife and habitat.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
Our Future is Now

Whitetail

In many ways, the state of our industry is a contradiction. While sales of outdoor products and firearms are booming and the deer and wildlife market remain strong, public interest in wildlife and hunter participation are declining at an alarming rate.

Our society has never before been more disconnected from nature than it is today. The number of Americans 16-years-old and older who hunt has dropped nearly 50% in the past 20 years. This decline is especially shocking for many states because hunters help control deer populations and revenue from hunting licenses are crucial to conservation efforts.

These factors paint a bleak picture for all of us, and the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is working hard in the present to preserve our American outdoor traditions for the future.

ADWA Introduces Deer Farming into Texas Ag Program

FFA

Raising deer has been practiced in North America for than a century, but the industry itself has never been perceived as ‘mainstream’ when compared to traditional livestock options, such as cattle or goats. Today, however, deer farming might soon be part of children’s homework in Texas.

The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) is pleased to announce a ‘first-of-its-kind’ Deer Farming 101 workshop to be held at the Professional Development Conference of the Agricultural Teachers Association of Texas in July 2010. The conference brings together Ag teachers from across the state, and this workshop will provide an informative basis for teachers to bring deer farming instruction to their schools as early as Fall 2010.

Attend the Second Amendment March on Washington

Help defend the Second Amendment and let your voice be heard. There will be a Second Amendment March in Washington, D.C., on April 19, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Attendees will gather on the northeast corner of the Washington Monument grounds at 10:00 a.m., and the entire event will take place there (due to logistics, the event will be more of a "rally" than an actual march).

Sponsored and coordinated by the ìSecond Amendment Marchî organization, the event is designed to help galvanize the courage and resolve of Americans; to petition our elected officials against establishing anti-gun legislation; and to remind America that the Second Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense.

Yellow Tail Finally Makes Right Call on HSUS Partnership

A nationwide effort to educate the Yellow Tail winemaker about the true agenda of the nation’s largest anti-hunting group has succeeded.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) had called upon sportsmen nationwide to contact the maker and distributor of Yellow Tail wine regarding their financial support of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). After being besieged by angry consumers, Casella Wines, the Australian producers of Yellow Tail, responded to the criticism by issuing a statement that it will no longer support any lobbying groups.
