ADWA Announces Title Sponsor of Deer & Wildlife Stories |
The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance is proud to announce it will be the title sponsor of the new outdoor television program, Keith Warren’s Deer & Wildlife Stories, airing on the Outdoor Channel. The new show will debut in January and will get up close and personal with whitetail deer and educate viewers about the future of the species.
The new show will debut on the Outdoor Channel on January 3, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. and air three times a week.
“This nationally broadcast show will definitely be different then any other show on the network in that we will feature no hunting at all, but every hunter will find it a must-see show. This is a program where the whitetail deer is the star of the show,” says executive producer Keith Warren.

Sportsmen Await Impact of Election |
Special Report by the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance
With the election of a new President and Congress, this is an important time for sportsmen to watch and remain engaged by talking to their individual elected representatives. It is also important that sportsmen understand that while policy made in Washington, D.C. can affect hunting, fishing, and trapping; policies with the most impact originate in individual state capitols.
Preliminary results show that out of 11 gubernatorial races, only one changed political parties. This indicates a remarkable level of stability at the state government level. In a nutshell, for many day-to-day issues confronting sportsmen, the outcome of the election does not appear to radically change things.

ADWA Delivers First ‘Goodie Bags’ to Youth Camps |
Supporting outdoor education and encouraging youth participation, the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance has initiated an all-new youth program to provision select, outdoor youth camps across the country with special ‘Camper Bags’ for the children enrolled. Among the first camps included in the program are Ted Nugent’s Kamp for Kids in Jackson, Mich.; Beyond the Backyard in Charleston, W.V.; United Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation in Freeport, Ill.; Ray Howell’s Kicking Bear in La Crescent, Minn.; and Texas Deer Association’s Youth Deer Camp in San Antonio, Texas.
“We support the American Deer & Wildlife Alliance in their efforts to create partnerships with the people that work with our kids day in and day out,” adds Mike Bartholdy of Mountain Mike’s Reproduction, which donated antler mount kits for the ADWA Camper Bags. “Those of us that hunt know that our love for the sport goes hand-in-hand with conservation, but we cannot take for granted that future generations will know that.”

ADWA Special Report: Michigan Baiting Ban |
With the fall hunting season already here, many Michigan hunters and farmers are coming to grips with a permanent ban on baiting deer in the Lower Peninsula.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources this year adopted a ban on baiting in the state’s Lower Peninsula following the discovery of one deer with Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in a privately owned facility in Kent County. The baiting ban was initially imposed on Aug. 26 as a six-month preventative measure, but Ingham County Circuit Judge Joyce Draganchuk upheld the ban last month which has allowed DNR authorities to extend the ban indefinitely.
The decision was a blow for farmers and store owners who sued because the financial hardship the ban created. As a result, Michigan hunters are now learning to switch hunting methods and Michigan farmers are left ‘holding the bag’ on up to a million dollars in unsold produce
