Not Enough Facts About CWD

As the executive director of the North American Deer Farmers Association, I would like to help keep the public up to date on the status of chronic wasting disease in Minnesota and the efforts to control it. I also appreciate the opportunity to add some additional facts that might have been overlooked previously.
Our office is located in Lake City, Minn., so we have a local connection to what is happening in southeastern Minnesota. More importantly, our organization has several members whose farms are located within the quarantine zone, and they are uncertain of the future of their family farms and livelihoods.

Whitetails of Louisiana Joins ADWA
The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance® (ADWA) is pleased to welcome Whitetails of Louisiana as its newest partner in promoting the deer and wildlife industry. The two organizations will work together to promote the deer industry and increase public awareness for issues relating to deer, hunting and conservation.

Sign up for the Third Annual ADWA Pigapalooza Hunt
The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance (ADWA) is inviting young sportsmen (ages 8 to 15) to attend the 3rd Annual Pigapalooza Youth Hog Hunt. The event will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2010, at DB Hunting Ranch in Bertram, Texas, and will provide pork sandwich lunches, an afternoon of fun educational activities and an evening hog hunt.

ADWA Calls for Support on Wolf Delisting Bills
The American Deer & Wildlife Alliance announces its support for Congressional bills — H.R. 509 and S. 249 — both of which would remove unnecessary federal protections on fully recovered wolf populations and give states the authority to manage their own wildlife.
ADWA is among other leading sportsmen groups — NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Safari Club International, Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, to name a few — that are calling for Congress to put an end to the abuse and misuse of the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
